AI summaryOct 12 close

Inter shares climbed this week after JPMorgan raised its price target on the stock to $11 from $9 while maintaining an Overweight rating, citing accelerating digital-banking growth and improved earnings estimates. The stock had already surged nearly 24% in a prior session, its largest percentage increase since July 2022, and coverage this week noted the move extended with a further 7.1% gain tied to the JPMorgan update. Broader commentary pointed to Inter's digital fintech SuperApp strategy as a theme behind the sustained attention, alongside questions about whether the rally has further room given recent earnings estimate revisions.

Inter closes at $7.74, up 0.8%, with the close sitting above both the 50-day average of $5.65 and the 200-day average of $6.97. The GekkoIndex reads 35.2, placing the stock in the Distribution zone, down 8.2 over the last five readings. Price sits 12.7% above Gekko Fair Value of $6.87. One-month returns stand at 35.6% and three-month returns at 35.8%, while six-month and one-year returns remain negative at -7.3% and -9.7% respectively.

The next earnings date falls on 12 November 2026, 31 days away and outside a typical 20-trading-day holding window. Last earnings call, Aug 5, 2026 AI summary

What they said
Inter & Co's Q2 2026 earnings call highlighted strong growth and operational execution, centered around the newly introduced 'Rule of 50' and the 60-30-30 North Star. Management emphasized simultaneous revenue growth and profitability: total net revenue grew 32% year-over-year, ROE exceeded 16%, and NIM reached a record 10.1%. Active clients expanded to 45.3 million with higher-quality cohorts and increased engagement (22 million daily log-ins). Transaction volume (cards and PIX) reached a BRL 1.8 trillion run-rate, and the bank is gaining market share in fixed transactions (~9%). NII grew consistently (~40% YoY for eight quarters). Management discussed strategic repricing, portfolio mix shifts toward higher-yielding assets (private payroll, buy now pay later, PIX credit), liability repricing (lower LCI rates), and technical changes (credit card write-off policy move from 360 to 330 days). Asset quality showed some early NPL increases and higher Stage 3 formation partly due to renegotiation programs (BACEN) and write-off policy change; coverage ratio moved from ~146% down to ~134% as products season. Management reiterated confidence in growing loan portfolio at ~30% pace, while managing risk with tools like credit insurance, relinkage, and underwriting adjustments. Several Q&A topics covered drivers of NIM volatility, inflation-linked hedges, income from securities/derivatives, coverage ratio movement, private payroll product tuning, and the effect of debt renegotiation programs. Closing remarks were optimistic about addressable market and the bank's transition from capital consumption to capital generation.
Guidance
Management reiterated expectations for annual NIM increase of ~40 basis points year-over-year. They indicated confidence in continuing growth (~30%-ish loan growth for a few years) and targeting marginal ROE of ~30% for the private payroll product. No explicit numeric revenue or EPS guidance beyond NIM and growth cadence was provided.
Risks flagged
Mentioned risks and challenges include inflation dynamics impacting NIM timing, early NPL increases and higher cost of risk for new products (private payroll), macroeconomic/election uncertainty in Brazil, potential reduction in fiscal spending, exposure to renegotiation programs (BACEN) affecting Stage 3 and P&L, and uncertainty on pace of product growth and loan mix which will affect coverage and provisioning.
