About QCR

QCR functions as a parent company for a group of banks that together handle everyday banking for businesses and households while also offering trust and asset management work. Customers can open checking accounts that pay interest or not, along with time deposits and brokered deposit arrangements. The firm has built a name around combining standard banking with leasing and lending services tailored to different types of borrowers.

Much of the lending centers on smaller and mid-sized companies, giving them working capital lines, term loans to cover equipment or building purchases, and financing tied to commercial or residential property. On the consumer side, QCR arranges loans for home repairs, equity lines tied to a residence, car purchases, and smaller signature-based credit. The company also leases machinery to industrial and commercial clients and takes part in issuing trust preferred securities. It works with corporations, partnerships, government entities, and private individuals located in and around Quad Cities, Cedar Rapids, Cedar Valley, Des Moines/Ankeny, and Springfield.

QCR traces back to 1993 and runs its main offices out of Moline, Illinois. Its stock trades on the NASDAQ under the ticker QCRH.

Last earnings call, Jan 28, 2026 AI summary

What they said
QCR Holdings, Inc. reported fourth quarter and full-year 2025 results with a focus on record profitability, strong NIM expansion, loan growth, and a diversified business mix (traditional banking, wealth management, LIHTC lending). The call highlighted guidance improvements for net interest income and capital markets, an expanded NIE (digital transformation) investment program, and a plan to fund growth with core deposits while maintaining disciplined expense growth. Management outlined a path toward modest near-term margin benefits from rate cuts, a securitization plan for construction loans (targeting $300-350 million before June 30, 2026), and an end-2026 loan run-rate just under $10 billion with upside into 2027. They also emphasized LIHTC growth opportunities and the importance of not over-relying on LIHTC for earnings, maintaining ROA progression through traditional banking and wealth management improvements. The call included Q&A sessions with several analysts. Overall tone is confident with cautious guardrails about seasonality, securitization timing, and the longer runway for efficiency improvements.
Guidance
Forward-looking guidance issued: - NIE (non-interest expenses) guidance increased to $55-$58 million for 2026, implying about 5% year-over-year growth. - 2026 gross loan growth guided around 8-12% in the first quarter with acceleration to about 12-15% in the latter three quarters; full-year gross loan growth around ~12%. - Net interest income (NII) growth targeted around 9% for the full year, supported by NIM expansion and rate arbitrage; 965 program and depreciation-like investments in digital transformation discussed. - End-2026 loan balance expected to be just under $10 billion; 2027 expected to surpass $10 billion, with Durbin impact starting in 2028; plan to securitize $300-350 million of perm loans in 1H/2026 prior to June 30. - Deposit strategy focusing on core deposits, private banking, treasury management, and growth in non-interest-bearing deposits; NIB (non-interest bearing) deposits to be improved to peer levels over time. - Efficiency improvement to begin in 2027 with more pronounced benefits in 2028; targeted ROA growth to high-single digits and double-digit EPS/TBV growth, with LIHTC contributing but not being the sole driver. - 8-10% earnings yield or ROA improvement goals; maintain rolling 4-quarter guidance; capex and transformation expense to sustain growth. - Tax rate expectations around 8-10% for 2026's next quarter, with the high-level expectation that tax-exempt balance sheet components will moderate effective tax rate over time.
Risks flagged
Key risk factors discussed or implied: - Delays or changes in Freddie Mac's M-Series securitization program affecting planned $300-350 million securitization before June 30, 2026. - Seasonal seasonality in Q1 for capital markets revenue and overall capital markets activity (slower first quarter). - Potential moderating arbitrage in rate environment as Fed rate cuts progress; deposit costs declines may decelerate; NIB funding improvement could take time. - Competition in LIHTC financing and traditional banking markets; pricing pressure and competition in some markets; industry headwinds. - Dependency on LIHTC growth as a profitability lever; risk of overreliance and the need to diversify earnings (traditional banking, wealth management). - Macro sensitivity and regulatory dynamics including Durbin impact and potential balance sheet constraints; M&A developments (MOFG) altering market dynamics. - Timing and execution risk around offtake, securitization, and construction loan sales, impacting NII and annual loan growth pace. - Tax rate composition fluctuations and the proportion of tax-exempt income that flows to the income statement; variability across quarters.
