Ducommun works as an engineering and manufacturing partner for industries that demand highly precise hardware, chiefly aerospace and defense along with industrial and medical customers in the United States. It has built its name on turning difficult design challenges into finished components and systems used in aircraft, spacecraft, and other technically demanding equipment.
Its activities fall under two business segments. Electronic Systems makes wiring and cable assemblies, interconnect hardware, printed circuit board assemblies, and more elaborate electronic and electromechanical sub-assemblies, plus items like lightning protection systems, radar enclosures, aircraft electronics racks, shipboard control housings, switches, control panels, and motion-control motors, while also lending engineering help in designing, integrating, and testing aerospace systems. Structural Systems shapes and assembles metal parts from aluminum, titanium, and Inconel into finished aerospace structures, including winglets, engine parts, and fuselage panels, and produces bonded metal and composite assemblies such as wing spoilers, large fuselage sections, helicopter rotor blades, flight control surfaces, and ammunition handling equipment. These products reach commercial and military aircraft of both fixed-wing and rotary-wing types, space programs, and industrial and medical users.
Ducommun dates back to 1849 and keeps its headquarters in Santa Ana, California. Its stock is listed on the NYSE under the ticker DCO.
