Textron's week centers on its aviation unit, which marked the rollout of the 500th Cessna Citation Latitude business jet from its Wichita facility, underscoring continued demand for the aircraft roughly a decade after it entered service. Textron Systems also reported that its Aerosonde UAS completed first vertiport flights in commercial airspace as part of the Virginia Advanced Air Mobility Smart Airspace initiative. Alongside these milestones, shares touched new 52-week lows despite the company reiterating its fiscal 2026 adjusted EPS and cash flow guidance, with coverage pointing to supply chain issues and aviation workforce inefficiencies as sources of investor concern even as underlying demand holds steady.

Textron closed at $77.37, up 1% on the day, but remains below both its 50-day average of $84.32 and 200-day average of $89.80, with the 50-day below the 200-day. Shares sit near the 52-week low of $75.51 and well off the 52-week high of $101.57, down 14.2% over three months and 6% over the past month. The GekkoIndex reads 68.7, placing the stock in the Accumulation zone, while the price sits 19.5% below the Gekko Fair Value of $96.14.

Textron's next earnings report is scheduled for 22 October 2026, before the market open, falling within the next 20 trading days; its last report showed EPS of $1.62 against a $1.52 estimate but was followed by a 10.9% reaction. No insider, Congress or unusual options activity appears in the current windows. What they said
Textron reported modest revenue growth (up 3% in Q2; $500M or 7% YTD) with continued strength in aviation and military demand, illustrated by an $8B aviation backlog and key production milestones (500th Citation CJ4, 700th Bell 505). Management emphasized a strategic shift to become a pure-play aerospace & defense company (initiated Industrial separation sale/spin process) and prioritized improving operational execution—particularly productivity on the factory floor—through workforce development, increased engineering support, capital investments, and dual-sourcing of critical suppliers. Results were mixed: adjusted EPS rose modestly ($1.62 vs. $1.55), segment profit was roughly flat, but manufacturing cash flow before pension contributions declined materially (to $154M from $336M YoY). Bell revenue grew (6%) but margins were pressured by conservative booking treatment tied to ATR funding timing for MV-75. Management signaled medium-term margin upside at Aviation via productivity gains (20%–25% incremental margins opportunity, ~200 bps / ~$150M profit opportunity) but said margin improvement would be phased (flat Q3 vs. Q2; improvement expected in Q4 and into 2027). They are conservatively managing MV-75 spending to a $350M threshold pending ATR/Congressional action, noted a potential EPS headwind of ~$0.20–$0.30 and an anticipated LRIP charge range of $60M–$110M if exercised in Q4/Q1. Company returned $209M in share repurchases and received an $18M net tariff refund benefit in the Industrial segment this quarter.
Guidance
- Q3 revenue cadence for Aviation expected similar to Q2; margins for Aviation not expected to improve until Q4 2026. - Medium-term Aviation incremental margins target: ~20%–25% (management quantified ~200 bps / ~$150M potential profit uplift). - Management reiterated they expect overall 2026 revenue roughly in line with prior guidance; noted a potential ~ $0.20–$0.30 EPS impact tied to MV-75 ATR timing/booking treatment. - LRIP charge expectation if contract exercised in Q4/Q1: $60M–$110M. - No formal numeric 2027 guidance provided; management will provide 2027 guidance around January.
Risks flagged
- Manufacturing inefficiencies and lower productivity on factory floors driven by a younger, less experienced workforce and out-of-station work. - Persistent supplier constraints for certain critical components (e.g., spars) that require dual-sourcing. - MV-75 funding timing: ATR approval and Congressional sign-off could be delayed (risk through September), creating booking conservatism and potential revenue/timing variability. - Potential government continuing resolution dynamics impacting funding cadence. - Reduced manufacturing cash flow versus prior year. - Possible LRIP-related charge ($60M–$110M) if LRIP contract exercises as anticipated.
