Loan and deposit growth at 8% annualized in Q4; higher cash balances. Noninterest income $106M driven by correspondent Capital Markets performance. Management reiterated 2026 guidance: earning assets $61-62B average, NIM 3.80%-3.90%, deposit beta ~27%, loan accretion $125M, mid- to upper-single-digit loan growth, expense growth ~4% on $1.407B base, expense investments focused on revenue-producing hires/tech, buyback flexibility with payout ratio guidance 40%-60% over time. Capital return and buyback usage to be flexible. Credit metrics improved overall with declines in past dues, NPAs and charge-offs; slight rise in substandard (mostly current, multifamily lease-up). Hiring activity remains robust (550-600 commercial RMs added; potential 10-15% further increase). Investments include AI, FX platform, loan servicing/syndication technology. Management optimistic about momentum in Texas and Colorado with strong production growth. Q&A tone was confident with measured optimism.
Guidance
- Average interest-earning assets for 2026: $61B-$62B - NIM guidance for 2026: 3.80% - 3.90% - Deposit beta target: ~27% (potentially moving toward 30% over time) - Loan accretion forecast for 2026: $125 million - Loan growth guidance: mid- to upper-single-digit for 2026 - Expense guidance: ~4% growth on $1.407 billion base (2025 operating expenses) - Buyback/dividend payout: flexible; long-term total payout ratio target ~40%-60% (could vary)
Risks flagged
- Integration risks largely mitigated but always present in large deals (noted as navigated successfully). - Interest rate and yield curve uncertainty (three rate cuts assumed; NIM sensitive to rate moves and deposit beta). - Deposit cost/competitive funding (deposit beta and CD repricing lag). - Concentration in CRE and multifamily lease-up timing (increase in substandard loans due to lease-up properties).
