About Methanex

Methanex produces and supplies methanol on a global scale, serving companies in the chemical and petrochemical space. Beyond making the chemical itself, the company also sources additional volumes from other producers, combining its own output with material bought through long-term agreements and spot purchases to meet customer demand.

Its production spans North America, the Asia Pacific, Europe, and South America, and it backs this reach with owned and leased storage and terminal sites. Methanex also runs a fleet of roughly 30 ocean-going vessels, which supports the movement of methanol across these regions to the businesses that rely on it as a chemical and petrochemical input.

Methanex was founded in 1968 and is headquartered in Vancouver, Canada. Its shares are listed on the NASDAQ under the ticker MEOH.

What they said
Methanex reported Q2 2026 adjusted EBITDA of $577 million and adjusted net income of $300 million, driven by average realized price of $529/tonne on ~2.2 million tonnes of produced sales. Record North American production of 1.6 million tonnes was a highlight. The company repaid $290 million on Term Loan A while maintaining $380 million cash on hand. Middle East conflict disrupted 15-20 million tonnes of annualized methanol supply.
Guidance
Management expects Q3 supply pressure to intensify as pre-conflict inventories are now depleted and Middle East production remains idle. Demand rationalization will increasingly be required until conflict resolution normalizes supply. No specific price or earnings targets provided.
