Fortis provides electricity and natural gas to customers across Canada, the United States and several Caribbean territories. Its business spans retail power delivery in parts of Arizona, natural gas distribution in British Columbia, and electric utility service in Alberta, Ontario, Newfoundland and Labrador, and Prince Edward Island, along with customers on Grand Cayman and in Turks and Caicos. The company is recognized for the geographic reach of its utility operations, which combine electricity generation from gas, hydroelectric, wind and solar sources with an extensive network of distribution lines and gas pipelines.
Its generation assets include hydroelectric plants in Alberta and Belize, gas-fired and hydro facilities in Arizona, and wholesale electricity sales to other utilities in the western United States. Fortis also manages hydroelectric stations it does not fully own and operates a natural gas storage facility at Aitken Creek. Customers range from residential and commercial gas users in British Columbia to retail electricity subscribers across its various regional markets, along with wholesale counterparties.
