About NextEra Energy

NextEra Energy produces and delivers electricity to homes and businesses throughout North America, selling power to everyday customers as well as bulk buyers in wholesale markets. It draws on a range of sources including wind, solar, nuclear, coal and natural gas, and it is recognized for pairing traditional power supply with a growing footprint in clean energy infrastructure like renewable projects, battery storage and power lines.

Its work extends past running generation and delivery systems; the company also builds and manages clean energy projects under long-term agreements, trades energy commodities, and constructs power plants that sell into open, competitive markets. Within Florida, it provides electricity to millions of people living along the eastern and lower western coasts, serving a large base of customer accounts through its utility arm.

The company dates back to 1925 and spent decades under the name FPL Group before it became NextEra Energy in 2010. It keeps its main offices in Juno Beach, Florida, and its stock trades on the NYSE under the ticker NEE.

What they said
NextEra Energy reported Q2 2026 adjusted EPS of $1.15, with H1 adjusted EPS up 9.8% year-over-year. FPL added 90,000+ customers in Q2, maintains residential bills ~30% below national average, and leads in solar/storage ownership. Large load capacity expectations were raised from 6GW to 8GW by 2032, driven by hyperscaler demand. FPL is on track to install ~900MW solar and 1.4GW battery storage in 2026.
Guidance
Management raised large load targets to 8GW by 2032 and expects FPL residential bills to increase only ~2% annually through decade-end. NEE expressed confidence in delivering growth across regulated and contracted businesses in 2026 and beyond.
Risks flagged
Timing and coordination risks for federal hub projects (involving multiple governments); regulatory and stakeholder approvals required for the Dominion transaction; commercial and cost-overrun risk constraints for nuclear/SMR development (management emphasized they will not take on customer overrun risk and need appropriate commercial structures); potential local community pushback (Project Tango referenced) and site-selection risks; execution and supply-chain risks inherent in large-scale renewables, storage, transmission and pipeline projects; general forward-looking statement risk disclosure noted (SEC filings).
