It is known for supplying the hardware that helps vehicles run efficiently and manage power, from turbocharging equipment to electric drive components, serving car makers and their suppliers around the world.
The company runs four business units. Air Management covers turbochargers, engine timing and emissions parts, thermal products, ignition technology, sensors, and battery components such as packs and charging systems. E-Propulsion & Drivetrain provides electric motors, power electronics, control modules, and transmission and torque parts. Fuel Injection designs fuel delivery systems for gasoline and diesel engines. Aftermarket sells replacement parts, diagnostic tools, and engine management products to repair shops and original equipment service providers. Its customers span light vehicle, commercial vehicle, and off-highway equipment manufacturers, along with Tier 1 suppliers and aftermarket buyers in each of those categories.
The company was established in 1987 under the name Borg-Warner Automotive, Inc. and is headquartered in Auburn Hills, Michigan. BorgWarner shares are listed on the NYSE under the ticker BWA.
