About SFL

SFL holds and leases out ships and offshore equipment, putting assets to work for other operators through charter deals that typically run for several years rather than single voyages. Its holdings cover tankers, dry bulk vessels, container ships, car carriers, and drilling rigs, touching activities such as moving oil, dry bulk cargo, refined products, containers, and automobiles, along with drilling work offshore. By the close of 2025 its fleet comprised 17 tankers, a pair of dry bulk carriers, 21 container ships, seven vessels built for carrying cars, and two drilling rigs.

Income comes from renting these vessels and rigs to shipping and energy customers under agreements that lock in use of the assets for extended periods. The company runs this business across a wide set of maritime hubs, with activity in Bermuda, Canada, Cyprus, Liberia, Namibia, Norway, Singapore, the United Kingdom, and the Marshall Islands.

Founded in 2003, SFL has its headquarters in Hamilton, Bermuda. The company traded for years as Ship Finance International Limited before taking on its present name back in 2019. Its stock trades on the NYSE under the ticker SFL.

Last earnings call, Feb 10, 2026 AI summary

What they said
SFL Corporation Ltd. held its fourth quarter 2025 conference call, highlighting steady operational performance, strong cash flow, and strategic asset management. Management announced the 88th consecutive dividend, reported Q4 revenues of $176 million and adjusted EBITDA-equivalent cash flow of $109 million, and noted 12-month EBITDA of $450 million. They discussed successful transactions including the sale of two 2015-built Suezmax tankers with substantial gains and profit-sharing arrangements, strengthening charter backlog via long-term agreements, investments in fleet efficiency upgrades, and high utilization (98.6% overall shipping fleet utilization). The fleet includes 57 assets across segments with a charter backlog of approximately $3.7 billion. Management detailed segment revenues: containers ~$81 million, car carriers ~$26 million, tankers ~$42 million, dry bulk ~$2.7 million, and energy assets ~$23 million. The Hercules drilling rig remains idle but management sees improving market dynamics for potential employment; a $100 million rig financing facility was referenced. Q&A focused on tanker market strength, dividend policy, asset allocation across segments, SFL Composer collision repair (fully insured), and newbuild container strategy. Financials were broadly steady quarter-over-quarter with non-recurring gains on tanker sales and some charter termination fees expensed per US GAAP.
Guidance
No explicit forward-looking numerical guidance was issued. Management discussed strategic outlook: they emphasized a disciplined dividend approach tied to long-term sustainable cash flows, expectation of continued focus on long-term charters, visibility of improving rig market dynamics (potential employment for Hercules), and backlog of ~$3.7 billion implying future contracted revenues. They referenced broker indications for Suezmax one-year T/C rates (~$47,500 to $60,000 depending on source) but provided no company-level revenue or EPS guidance.
Risks flagged
Management highlighted general risks in forward-looking statements: shipping, offshore, and credit market conditions, counterparty commitment risk due to geopolitical trade friction, idleness of the Hercules rig and slow offshore market, and uncertainties related to market dynamics and charterer behavior. They also noted non-recurring US GAAP impacts (termination fee expense) and contingent employment for rigs.
