Last earnings call, Jul 30, 2026 AI summary

What they said
Ingersoll Rand reported a solid Q2 2026 with broad-based demand, modest organic order growth and revenue expansion, and management raising full-year revenue guidance while indicating adjusted EPS should be toward the higher end of the previously communicated range. Q2 highlights include organic order growth of 2% and organic revenue growth of 4% (reported revenue up 9% YoY to about $2 billion), adjusted EPS growth of 7%, adjusted EBITDA of $520 million (25.4% margin, down 160 bps YoY), and aftermarket representing 36% of revenue. ITS revenue rose ~9% with adjusted EBITDA margin of 26.8%; PST delivered strong order growth (11% total, 7% organic) and ~31.5% EBITDA margin with expectations to approach mid-30s over time. Management sees improving short- and medium-cycle demand and growing evidence that longer-cycle project activity is reaccelerating (strong July order inflow, long-cycle projects building backlog into 2027). Margin pressures in the quarter were driven primarily by China pricing dynamics, continued investments in new technology and commercial activities, and a one-time/true-up increase in corporate incentive costs. The company reiterated disciplined capital allocation and an active, bolt-on M&A pipeline.
Guidance
- Raised full-year revenue guidance (exact numeric range not disclosed on call). - Expect adjusted EPS to be toward the higher end of the previously communicated range. - Incremental ~1% organic growth for the full year driven by volume vs. price (management commentary). - Corporate costs expected to be approximately $170 million for the full year. - PST segment: expect H2 EBITDA margin to be slightly higher than Q2 (~32% range) and to progress toward mid-30s target over time. - ITS: expect exit margins in Q4 to be in line with or slightly above prior year, though full-year ITS margin likely modestly below FY25 due to timing/transient items.
Risks flagged
- Pricing pressure and inflationary dynamics in China, including overcapacity and difficulty offsetting inflation with price. - Inflation and input cost pressure more broadly. - Timing risk and elongation of long-cycle projects (phasing can delay revenue recognition), though cancellations were limited. - Higher corporate costs driven by incentive compensation true-up (transient but impacted margins). - Execution and integration risks associated with M&A and investments. - Macroeconomic/market uncertainty impacting project timing and customer engineering/EPC capacity.
