AI summary

Carrier Global closes at $53.88, down 0.9%, with the stock sitting below both its 50-day average of $62.15 and its 200-day average of $61.54. Over the past month the stock is off 12%, and it has fallen 25% over three months and 11.3% over the past year, against a 52-week range of $50.24 to $76.76. Recent coverage centers on Carrier's standing versus construction-sector peers, a comparison with Emcor Group, a presentation at Morgan Stanley's Laguna Conference, and a 13F filing showing Corient Private Wealth LP increased its CARR stake by 36.5% in the quarter. One report also flagged notable activity in the options market without further detail. These items concern the company's competitive positioning, institutional ownership shifts, and options-market attention rather than any change in operating results.

Carrier's next earnings report is set for 27 October 2026, before the open, 37 days out and beyond a typical 20-trading-day hold. Its last report, on 28 July, showed EPS of $0.86 against an $0.83 estimate, with orders up roughly 40%, backlog above $8 billion, free cash flow of $810 million, and raised full-year guidance, yet shares reacted -13.6%. Seasonality over the next 20 trading days has averaged -2.6% across 5 years, higher in 2 of them, while insider, Congress, and unusual options activity show no recorded signals in their respective windows.

What they said
Carrier reported stronger-than-expected second-quarter results, driven by very strong orders (up ~40%) and record backlog (> $8 billion). Management raised full-year guidance for sales, operating profit and EPS, citing robust demand in commercial HVAC (notably data centers), improving residential and light commercial end markets, strong free cash flow ($810M) and ongoing portfolio optimization (divestiture of Riello, sale of NORESCO, acquisition of 75F). Key operational actions include plans for a new U.S. data center-focused manufacturing facility, expansion in India, and investments in intelligent BMS capabilities via the 75F acquisition. Segment highlights: CSA saw 4% organic growth with margin ahead of guide but impacted by mix and tariffs; CSAME grew 4% with strong performance in India, Southeast Asia and Australia; CST (transportation) was flat with mixed margin dynamics. Management emphasized supply-chain and execution focus to deliver a large second-half ramp in data center shipments and expects meaningful sequential pickup in Q3. They reiterated confidence in margin progress over time but noted near-term margin dilution from investments, tariffs and unfavorable mix.
Guidance
- Raised full-year guidance: increased sales guidance by ~$1.0 billion and EPS by $0.10 versus prior guidance (per management commentary). - Q3 guidance: ~10% organic sales growth and adjusted operating margin around 16.5% (sequentially down ~70 bps). - Data center revenue outlook for the year: ~$2.0 billion total (about $500M in H1, ~$1.5B in H2) with an expected exit run-rate of ~$2.5B (implying higher Q4 than Q3). - Expected FY investments: roughly $100 million (one-time/near-term investments related to data center facility and other initiatives). - Pricing assumptions: Residential price realization expected to finish the year around ~4% (with mid-single-digit movement in back half); expected mid-single-digit price improvements in some areas.
Risks flagged
- Tariff impacts and timing: April tariff changes and mitigation timing created near-term margin headwinds and uncertainty. - Unfavorable mix and increased input costs compressing margins. - Execution risk on the accelerated data center ramp and new U.S. facility build (need to hire, qualify suppliers, manage quality and delivery timing). - China residential market weakness (housing market softness) limiting recovery in that region. - One-time investments and divestiture-related items (NORESCO exit) that dilute near-term EPS. - Macroeconomic risks: higher interest rates, consumer pressure that could affect replacement demand.
