About Gentex

Gentex designs and manufactures technology used in vehicles and buildings, with particular recognition for its dimmable rearview mirrors that darken automatically to reduce glare. Beyond mirrors, its work spans connected car electronics, dimmable glass, and equipment used in fire safety systems, sold to customers in the United States, Germany, Japan, Mexico and other regions.

The company runs through two segments, Automotive Products and Other. On the automotive side, it supplies interior and exterior auto-dimming mirrors, related electronics, and conventional mirrors to OEMs, automotive suppliers and aftermarket buyers, for use in cars, light trucks, pick-ups, SUVs and vans. It also makes variable dimmable windows for aircraft manufacturers and airlines, and produces fire protection items such as photoelectric smoke detectors, carbon monoxide alarms, and signaling devices like bells and speakers, aimed at office buildings, hotels and other commercial or residential properties. These fire safety products reach the market directly and through sales managers, manufacturer representatives, distributors, electrical wholesalers and OEMs, and the company also works on nanofiber chemical sensing technology.
