AI summaryOct 12 close

Carter's slipped this week after Wells Fargo cut its price target on the stock from $42.00 to $30.00 while maintaining an equal weight rating, sending shares down from a prior close of $32.36 to an open of $30.90. The downgrade follows weaker-than-expected revenue guidance for the next quarter, which had already pressured the stock despite what was described as a solid second quarter. Separately, a consensus target of $42.29 from the 4 firms covering the stock, with 2 at buy and 2 at hold, implies a 32% upside figure as reported by analysts.

CRI closed at $32.03, down 1% on the day, sitting below both its 50-day average of $33.85 and its 200-day average of $36.36, with the shorter average also below the longer one. The GekkoIndex reads 57.7, placing the stock in the Neutral zone, up 2.1 over five days. The price sits 44.9% below Gekko Fair Value of $58.15.

Carter's next earnings report is scheduled for 26 October 2026, before the open, 13 days out and within a typical 20-trading-day holding window; the last report on 24 July 2026 beat estimates ($0.17 versus $0.02) with a 3.5% reaction, part of a record of 6 beats in 8 quarters, though average absolute reactions have run 12%. No insider, Congress or unusual options activity appears in the current windows. Seasonally, the next 20 trading days have averaged a 2.7% gain over 5 years, higher in 3 of them, a pattern worth noting against the upcoming report.
