About Ameresco
Ameresco builds and installs systems that help businesses, institutions, and government bodies use less energy and shift toward renewable power sources. Its work includes upgrading building equipment such as heating, cooling, and lighting setups so facilities run more efficiently and cost less to operate. The company is also involved in constructing compact power plants that turn renewable resources into electricity, gas, heat, or cooling, and it supplies solar panels and related equipment along with consulting and energy management support.
Internally, Ameresco organizes its activities into four segments covering U.S. regional operations, U.S. federal contracts, Canadian operations, and non-solar distributed generation projects. Once renewable facilities are built, the company often continues running and servicing them, then sells the resulting power, fuel, or thermal output. It also holds a wind energy site in Ireland. Clients range from national, state, and municipal agencies to hospitals, schools, universities, airports, housing authorities, and private commercial or industrial firms. At the end of 2021 the company's holdings included 147 fully owned small power-generation and solar sites.
Ameresco was established in 2000 and is based in Framingham, Massachusetts. The stock trades on the NYSE under the ticker AMRC.
