AI summary

Rambus this week draws attention on two fronts: a new MIPI partnership with M31 Technology Corporation, integrating Rambus' MIPI CSI and DSI controllers into imaging subsystems, and heightened options market activity that has prompted questions about what traders may be positioning for. Separately, the stock's exit from the PHLX Semiconductor Index affected trading flows rather than core business demand. A director, Charles Kissner, also filed to sell shares under a Rule 10b5-1 plan and a related Rule 144 notice.

The stock closed at $102.12, down 2.9%, sitting between its 50-day average of $93.22 and 200-day average of $107.75. Over the past month it has gained 12.1%, though it remains down 17.6% over three months and up 13.8% over six months, with a 52-week range of $77.89 to $174.10. The GekkoIndex reads 50.6, placing it in the Neutral zone after a five-point pullback over five sessions. Price sits about 1% above Gekko Fair Value of $101.12.

Rambus next reports earnings on 26 October, 27 days out, within a typical 20-trading-day holding window; its last report beat estimates with $0.64 versus $0.58 expected, though shares reacted -8.6%. Consensus among five analysts is unanimously Buy-rated, with a consensus target of $147.86. Seasonality over five years shows an average 20-day gain of 4.5%, positive in 4 of those years. No insider, Congress, or unusual options data appear in the current window.

Last earnings call, Jul 27, 2026 AI summary

What they said
Rambus delivered an excellent Q2 FY2026 with record revenue ($207.4M, +20% YoY, +15% QoQ) and record non-GAAP EPS ($0.77, +24% YoY), beating the high end of guidance. Strength was broad-based across product revenue ($99.2M, +22% YoY), royalties ($84.2M), and silicon IP, supported by solid cash from operations. Management highlighted secular demand driven by AI and data center trends (inference, agentic AI, heterogeneous compute) and multiple growth vectors: companion chips, MRDIMM, DDR5/Gen5 subgenerations, and licensing wins (PCIe Gen7, HBM controllers, hyperscaler IP engagements). The company reiterated its long-term model (product gross margins 60–65%) and provided quarter-by-quarter guidance, citing Q3 year-over-year growth of ~20%. Management emphasized strong execution but was cautious around supply-chain tightness, lead times, and the timing of platform ramps into 2027.
Guidance
Q3 guidance indicates ~20% year-over-year revenue growth. Silicon IP expected to grow ~10–15% annually. Long-term product gross margin model remains 60–65%. Management will continue to provide quarter-by-quarter guidance and will not give multi-quarter numeric outlooks; MRDIMM contribution expected minimal in Q4 and more material in 2027.
Risks flagged
Supply-chain tightness and lengthening lead times; uncertainty in platform ramp timing (impacting MRDIMM and other new product adoption); potential constrained supply into 2026–2027; modest near-term mix and margin fluctuations due to product mix and inventory strategies; possible inventory over-ordering in memory market (investors' concern) though company sees no customer inventory build-up now.
