Last earnings call, Aug 5, 2026 AI summary

What they said
Kraft Heinz's Q2 2026 call focused on early signs of recovery in U.S. consumption and market share after stepped-up brand investments, with management emphasizing confidence in their investment program and the decision to add an incremental $100 million (bringing the total incremental investment to $600 million) to accelerate momentum. Management highlighted improving consumption trends (Q2 ~ -2.5% consumption, July ~ -1%), encouraging results from Taste Elevation brands (Capri Sun, Heinz, Mac & Cheese/PowerMac, Ore-Ida Shapes), strong performance in emerging markets and Away From Home channel, and operational actions on cost/productivity to offset inflation. They reiterated that 2026 is the base year for elevated investment levels (no wraparound into 2027 expected), noted progress on ROI and free cash flow preservation, and pointed to balance-sheet strength via substantial debt paydowns and refinancing activity. Key challenges acknowledged included ongoing category softness, industry volatility, a SNAP-related ~100 bps headwind to share, and specific underperformance in Oscar Mayer Deli Fresh that the company is addressing with packaging and product actions.
Guidance
No formal numeric FY2027 guidance provided. Management noted expected inflation for next year in a 4%-5% range and stated productivity is the first line of defense to offset inflation. They characterized 2026 as the 'base' investment year (total incremental marketing investment $600 million, including an additional $100 million announced), said they do not expect investments to wrap into 2027, and indicated sequential improvement in consumption through Q3 and Q4 (July consumption ~ -1%).
Risks flagged
Industry remains soft and volatile; a ~100 bps headwind from SNAP impacted market share; macroeconomic uncertainty and cost inflation; competitive pressure and private-label pricing could widen price gaps; specific brand challenges (Oscar Mayer Deli Fresh decline) and inventory/phasing noise (shipment pull-forward from Q2 into Q3) could disrupt cadence.
