About Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing
Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing makes chips for clients worldwide, covering the fabrication, packaging, testing and shipping of integrated circuits and related components. It works with several wafer-processing methods that yield logic chips, mixed-signal parts, radio-frequency components, embedded memory and other specialized semiconductor types. These products end up in computing hardware, mobile devices, connected sensors, vehicle electronics and everyday consumer gadgets.
Beyond producing chips for other firms, the company helps clients with technical and engineering questions, builds custom masks, and puts capital into newer technology ventures. It also handles color filters from early design work through to finished sales, and offers some investment-related services on top of its manufacturing business. Its operations stretch across Taiwan, China, Japan, the United States, and parts of Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
The company traces back to 1987 and runs its main offices out of Hsinchu City, Taiwan. Its stock trades under the ticker TSM.
