TC Energy builds and runs energy infrastructure across North America, moving natural gas and crude oil from production areas to the places that use them. Its natural gas pipeline network reaches 93,300 kilometers, connecting supply basins to utilities, power plants, factories, other pipeline systems, LNG export terminals and commercial buyers. It is also known for its liquids pipeline system, which carries crude oil from Alberta to refining hubs in Illinois, Oklahoma, Texas and the U.S. Gulf Coast.
The company is organized into five business units covering Canadian, U.S. and Mexican natural gas pipelines, liquids pipelines, and power and storage. It holds regulated gas storage capacity of 535 billion cubic feet plus about 118 billion cubic feet of non-regulated storage in Alberta, and owns or holds interests in seven power generation plants in Alberta, Ontario, Québec and New Brunswick, producing roughly 4,300 megawatts from natural gas and nuclear sources.
TC Energy is based in Calgary, Canada, and traces its founding to 1951, having operated for years as TransCanada Corporation before adopting its current name in May 2019. Its shares are listed on the NYSE under the ticker TRP.
