NewJersey Resources operates as an energy holding company, combining regulated natural gas distribution with retail and wholesale energy activities. It is best known for supplying regulated natural gas utility service to residential and business customers across several New Jersey counties, including Burlington, Middlesex, Monmouth, Morris, Ocean, and Sussex, while also managing capacity and storage arrangements and participating in off-system sales.
The company organizes its work into four segments. Its gas distribution arm serves around 564,000 customers, while a clean energy division develops and operates solar projects for homes and businesses in New Jersey, Connecticut, Rhode Island, and New York. A separate energy services unit provides unregulated wholesale energy management to other energy firms and gas producers, trading storage and transportation assets across the United States and Canada, and a storage and transportation segment invests in related infrastructure. Beyond these, the company also offers HVAC services, commercial real estate management, solar installation, plumbing work, and water appliance sales and servicing.
NewJersey Resources was incorporated in 1981 and is headquartered in Wall, New Jersey. Its shares are listed on the NYSE under the ticker NJR.
