The business is arranged into five geographic divisions covering the United States, Switzerland, Western Europe, China, and other regions, and it reaches customers through both a direct sales force and outside distributors. Its customer base spans life sciences, research and testing labs, food and beverage producers, food retailers, chemical and cosmetics manufacturers, transportation and logistics companies, metals and electronics firms, and academic institutions.
The company was founded in 1991 and is based in Columbus, Ohio. Its shares are listed on the NYSE under the ticker MTD.
