Last earnings call, Jul 30, 2026 AI summary

What they said
Stryker's Q2 earnings call highlighted a strong operational recovery following a cybersecurity incident, with consolidated organic sales growth of 9% and adjusted EPS up 17.9% year-over-year. Management emphasized broad-based strength across MedSurg & Neurotechnology and international markets, record Mako installations and positive early feedback on Mako RPS, while noting an acute supply disruption in the peripheral vascular (Inari) business that created elevated backorders expected to be manageable by end of Q3. Management reiterated confidence in the capital environment, an elevated backlog, and the long-term opportunity in international markets and new product launches (e.g., Triathlon Gold, Sonopet, SmartCare). They also discussed margin dynamics: continued commitment to operational improvement (150 bps over 3 years), tariff refunds that benefited Q2 results, offset by cyber-related remediation costs, lost absorption, and commodity pressures. Capital allocation priorities remain M&A first, with opportunistic share repurchases (board-approved ~$1B available) contemplated. Management maintained (and narrowed) guidance for the year, expressed confidence in production ramp to satisfy backlog and capital orders, and expects to provide an update at Q3.
Guidance
Updated organic sales guidance narrowed to an approximate range of 8.3% to 9.3% growth for the full year (management noted they raised the lower end from ~8% to 8.3%). Management expects backorders from the Inari supply disruption to be manageable by end of Q3. They reiterated EPS guidance range (not numerically specified on the call) but noted continued commitment to margin improvement (150 bps over three years). Potential timing: IVL (AVS product) could receive approval and begin sales before year-end (possible, not guaranteed).
Risks flagged
Cybersecurity incident impacts (production outages, remediation costs, lost absorption); acute supply disruption at a single Inari plant causing backorders and lost sales in peripheral vascular; raw material / commodity pressures; uncertainty in procedure volumes across geographies and potential reimbursement headwinds (Medicare proposed changes); integration risks from acquisitions and salesforce transitions.
