About Bunge

Bunge sources, moves, processes and sells agricultural products on a global scale. Its work centers on oilseeds such as soybeans, canola, rapeseed and sunflower seeds, along with grains like wheat and corn, which it turns into vegetable oils, protein meals and a range of milled goods including flours, corn meals, masa and specialty grains such as quinoa and millet.

The company organizes its work across four areas. One handles the buying, storing, shipping and processing of raw crops for buyers such as livestock feed makers, millers and biofuel producers. Another turns oils into cooking oils, margarines, shortenings and mayonnaise for food manufacturers, restaurants and grocery retailers. A milling arm supplies flours, corn products and grain ingredients to food producers, while a separate division makes sugar and ethanol and generates electricity from sugarcane bagasse.

What they said
Bunge reported a strong Q2 2026 with reported EPS of $3.47 (adjusted EPS $2.00) versus $2.61 ($1.31) in Q2 2025. Adjusted segment EBIT rose to $796 million from $373 million a year ago. Management highlighted benefits from the expanded global platform following the Viterra acquisition (increased origination footprint, doubled ocean freight flows), ahead-of-plan Viterra cost synergies, completed $2 billion share repurchase program related to Viterra, and progress on multiple capital projects (Destrehan barge unloader and multi-seed plant, Morristown SPC plant, Avondale expansion, Westhaven specialty/refined plant). Commercial strength was seen in soybean and softseed processing (notably North and South America), while merchandising remained challenged but expected to sequentially improve into Q3 and Q4. Management raised full-year 2026 adjusted EPS guidance to $9.25–$9.75 (from $9.00–$9.50). They flagged macro and geopolitical risks (Black Sea conflict, changing trade flows, weather variability, fertilizer access) but emphasized the company’s diversified, integrated platform, disciplined risk management, and long-term demand drivers (population, rising incomes, constructive biofuel policies). Capital expenditures are expected in the $1.5–$1.7 billion range (management indicated they are closer to the high end).
Guidance
Full-year 2026 adjusted EPS guidance raised to $9.25 to $9.75 (previously $9.00 to $9.50). Q3/Q4 mix expected to be roughly low-40% Q3 / high-50% Q4. CapEx guide $1.5B–$1.7B (management expects nearer the high end).
Risks flagged
Geopolitical tensions (notably escalating Black Sea conflict) and shifting trade flows; weather/El Niño risks that could disrupt crop yields and planting timing; fertilizer access and phosphate availability concerns (potential impact on South American yields); energy cost volatility affecting crush margins; merchandising volatility and lower volumes/spotty demand; regulatory/policy risks including potential RVO changes or waivers and SRE rulings.
