About Septerna
Septerna is a clinical-stage biotechnology company that works on oral small molecule medicines targeting G protein-coupled receptors. Its research spans endocrinology, immunology and inflammation, and metabolic disease, with additional interest in neurology, women's health, cardiovascular disease, and respiratory conditions. The company is perhaps best recognized for its pipeline of GPCR-focused programs, including an oral agonist approach aimed at hypoparathyroidism, a compound called SEP-631 being studied for chronic spontaneous urticaria and related mast cell conditions, and a program targeting Graves' disease and thyroid eye disease.
Beyond its own pipeline, Septerna has entered into a global collaboration and licensing arrangement with Novo Nordisk, under which the two work together to discover, develop, and bring to market oral small molecule treatments aimed at specified targets linked to metabolic disease.
The company was originally established under the name GPCR NewCo, Inc. before adopting its current name in June 2021, and it was incorporated in 2019. It is headquartered in South San Francisco, California, and its shares trade on the NASDAQ under the ticker SEPN.
