Eagle Materials produces and distributes building materials used in both large-scale construction and everyday residential projects, working through a network of subsidiaries located throughout the United States. It quarries limestone to turn into Portland cement, which it manufactures, ships, and sells, and it also grinds slag for distribution. Beyond cement, the company pulls gypsum from the ground to create gypsum wallboard, a material commonly applied to interior walls and ceilings in homes, offices, and industrial buildings. It rounds out its offerings with ready-mix concrete and aggregate materials like crushed stone, sand, and gravel, items used in everything from housing developments to highway building and upkeep.
The company runs its business across four segments: Cement, Concrete and Aggregates, Gypsum Wallboard, and Recycled Paperboard. Under the paperboard segment, it manufactures and sells recycled paperboard mainly to wallboard makers and other converters, in addition to offering containerboard and lightweight packaging materials.
Eagle Materials got its start back in 1963 under the name Centex Construction Products, Inc., later adopting its present name in January 2004. Its headquarters sit in Dallas, Texas, and its stock trades on the NYSE under the ticker EXP.
