About Archrock

Archrock provides energy infrastructure services across the United States, centered on natural gas compression. Aftermarket Services covers the sale of parts and components along with maintenance, overhaul, and reconfiguration work for companies that own their own compression units. Its customer base consists of integrated and independent oil and gas processors, gatherers, and transporters.

The company traces back to 1990 and took on the Archrock name in November 2015, after previously operating as Exterran Holdings, Inc. It is headquartered in Houston, Texas, and its shares are listed on the NYSE under the ticker AROC.

What they said
Archrock reported strong second-quarter 2026 results driven by high utilization, robust contract operations performance, and disciplined execution. Key metrics included adjusted EBITDA of $213 million, adjusted EPS of $0.38, contract operations revenue of $329 million (up 3% year-over-year), contract operations adjusted gross margin of 71%, utilization of 94.4%, and adjusted free cash flow of $67 million (with $39 million returned to shareholders via dividends). Management highlighted healthy customer demand, strong bookings, a new long-term ~665,000 horsepower contract, continued dividend increases, and a multiyear growth CapEx plan to support expected demand through 2027–2030 driven by LNG and data-center power demand. Near-term headwinds cited include lower AMS (aftermarket services) revenue due to deferred maintenance and higher lube-oil costs; management expects AMS to recover and is taking internal cost mitigation actions. Archrock emphasized a disciplined capital allocation framework (returning 25–35% of operating cash flow after investing in growth), expects to continue generating free cash flow after planned investments, and noted long supplier lead times and tight packager capacity that support forward ordering.
Guidance
Updated outlook implies sequentially higher EBITDA in H2 2026 versus Q2 (management expects average quarterly EBITDA above Q2), company forecasts contract operations adjusted gross margin near ~70% for the current environment, a multiyear growth CapEx plan through 2030 (management signaled a material increase in annual growth CapEx versus current-year levels), and a capital allocation framework targeting returning 25–35% of operating cash flow after growth investments. Management expects net free cash flow after returns and growth investments and sees demand-driven horsepower additions in H2 2026 and beyond.
Risks flagged
Near-term headwinds: softer AMS demand due to deferred maintenance, higher lube-oil and make-ready costs. Structural/operational risks: very long OEM lead times (Caterpillar lead-times into 2029), tight packager floor space, commodity/ macro uncertainty (e.g., oil price volatility from geopolitical events), competitive pricing pressures, and execution risk tied to deploying large multiyear CapEx.
