Summit Therapeutics works in biopharmaceutical research, focused on finding, developing, and bringing to market treatments for infectious diseases in the United States and Latin America. Much of its pipeline centers on Clostridioides difficile infection, or CDI, with an oral small-molecule antibiotic called ridinilazole as its most advanced candidate, now in Phase III trials for that condition.
Alongside ridinilazole, the company is advancing SMT-738, aimed at multidrug-resistant infections such as carbapenem-resistant Enterobacteriaceae, and a group of compounds known as DDS-04, which target various infections caused by Enterobacteriaceae bacteria. Its work is organized around this pipeline of infectious-disease therapies rather than a marketed product line.
Summit Therapeutics was founded in 2003 and is headquartered in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Its shares are listed on the NASDAQ under the ticker SMMT.
