What they said
Knowles reported a strong Q2 2026 with revenue of $167 million (up 14% YoY), EPS of $0.33 (up 38% YoY) and cash from operations of $28 million — all above the high end or midpoint of guidance. Growth was broad-based, driven by a 25% YoY increase in Precision Devices (PD, $98M) and modest growth in Medtech & Specialty Audio (MSA, $69M, +2% YoY). Gross margins improved meaningfully: MSA at 53.1% (up 250 bps) and PD at 40.1% (up 140 bps), driven by factory productivity and higher utilization. Management highlighted strong, broad-based bookings, including energy and defense orders (a July radar order >$15M to ship starting in 2027). They reiterated full-year organic revenue growth expectations (10–12%) and MSA mid-year growth of 2–4% for 2026, while calling out potential upside in some MSA data they were still digesting. Management expressed confidence in pricing power (especially in PD), continued margin expansion, selective M&A activity, continued capital allocation (share repurchases, debt paydown), and a path to EBITDA margins >25% this year and near 30% over 2–3 years. They signaled higher CapEx on an absolute basis for 2027 while keeping CapEx near 5% of revenue.
Guidance
Full-year organic revenue growth target: 10%–12% (company comfortable with this range). MSA growth expectation for 2026: 2%–4%. PD segment: expect low-40% gross margins in the back half of the year. Sequential growth Q3→Q4 expected. CapEx target: ~5% of revenue (but higher absolute spend on a larger revenue base). Cash/CAPEX and capital allocation: continued buybacks and debt paydown. EBITDA margin target: >25% in 2026 with a path to ~30% within 2–3 years.
Risks flagged
Risks cited or implied in the call include: potential headwinds or uncertainty in the Hearing Health/MSA end market (new data recently released that management is still digesting), the risk of transient/one-off bookings leading to mis-sizing capacity investments, macro and defense-budget timing uncertainty (some defense demand won’t materialize until late 2027+), and general execution risks around ramping capacity and absorbing pricing actions into P&L given long lead times. Management also reiterated standard SEC forward-looking statement disclaimers and the need to review SEC filings.
