About FedEx

FedEx moves goods and information for customers at home and overseas, combining transport with e-commerce support and other business services. It has built its name on fast, time-critical delivery of packages and freight, including options that cross borders and lean on technology to speed things along.

The business is split into distinct parts. One unit concentrates on urgent, quick-turnaround shipments, another handles set-schedule deliveries for companies and private customers, and a third moves bulk freight that doesn't fill a full truckload, backed by a wide fleet and network of local hubs. A separate arm looks after shared functions like sales, marketing, tech systems, customer support and billing for the whole group. Remaining activities bring in supply chain coordination, tailored transport, customs clearance, ocean and air cargo forwarding, paperwork services and drop-off counters for shipments.

The company traces back to 1971 and runs its main offices out of Memphis, Tennessee. Its stock trades on the NYSE under the ticker FDX.

Last earnings call, Jun 23, 2026 AI summary

What they said
FedEx reported a very strong finish to FY2026, with consolidated revenue and adjusted operating income up 8% year over year, driven by FedEx Express (FEC) which grew revenue 9% and delivered nearly $7 billion in incremental revenue. Management highlighted exceeding the $1 billion transformation savings target and historic adjusted free cash flow and adjusted EPS ($20.24 FY2026; $6.31 in Q4) that beat the high end of guidance. The company completed the FedEx Freight spin-off on June 1 and will report Freight separately; Freight results weighed on consolidated results but are no longer central to FEC guidance. Management emphasized growth in premium B2B and high-value B2C verticals, strong momentum in APAC (data center/AI and industrial verticals), continued network transformation (Network 2.0, Tricolor, Europe initiatives), and structural cost reductions. Key operational notes included fuel surcharge mechanics (weekly reset, largely offsetting fuel expense), variable compensation timing headwinds, and pilot contract timing effects on seasonality. Capital allocation: 5% dividend increase, up to $1 billion of share repurchases in remainder of CY2026, planned investment in InPost, and intention to monetize Freight stake in a tax-efficient manner within 24 months of the spin.
Guidance
Management provided forward-looking guidance for the transition year and calendar year: margins and operating profit are expected to improve year over year (transition year improvement slightly stronger than calendar year). At the midpoint, management referenced ~19% profit growth and ~20% EPS growth. Stranded costs: from a $600M starting point, $250M has been conveyed, leaving $350M; expected $100M reduction during CY2026 and full mitigation by exit rate of CY2027. Variable compensation headwind of ~$100M in the transition year. Cash returns: dividend increased 5%, up to $1B share repurchase authorization for remainder of CY2026. Strategic targets reiterated: FEC free cash flow target of $6B by CY2029 and ~14% CAGR on bottom line by CY2029. Freight monetization planned within 24 months.
Risks flagged
Management cited multiple risks including the evolving global trade environment (tariffs, de minimis changes), geopolitical unrest in the Middle East, IEFA refund process and related trade/refund costs, grounding of MD-11 fleet historically, variability from incentive/variable compensation timing, pilot contract timing, fuel price volatility (though largely offset by surcharges), and weaker FedEx Freight results (a near-term consolidated headwind). They also noted standard forward-looking statement risks per SEC filings.
