Last earnings call, Jul 23, 2026 AI summary

What they said
Comcast reported second-quarter results showing revenue growth (up ~5% pro forma) driven in part by sports & events, but adjusted EBITDA declined ~5% and adjusted EPS was $1.04. Management emphasized the announced separation into two companies (to be completed in ~1 year) and described overwhelmingly positive internal and external reactions. Key strategic themes included a deliberate broadband/go-to-market pivot (simpler pricing, packaging, customer-experience investments), aggressive wireless growth (surpassed 10 million lines, record mobile line net adds, strong free-line conversion and >30% premium adoption), continued scaling and improving profitability at Peacock (nearly $200M profit this quarter), strong free cash flow ($4.6B) and capital returns ($2.1B including $900M buybacks). Management reiterated confidence in the network roadmap (multi-gig symmetrical, low-latency) to capture AI-driven demand and noted the competitive broadband environment (fiber, fixed wireless, satellite/Starlink). Parks saw near-term softness driven by attendance and travel-cost headwinds; Epic continues to perform well. Overall tone was optimistic about long-term prospects while acknowledging near-term investments and competitive pressures are weighing on margins.
Guidance
Separation timeline: target to complete in approximately one year; intention to set each company up with strong investment-grade balance sheets. Management expects C&P (Connectivity & Platforms) EBITDA pressure to begin abating with modest improvement by the third quarter/second half as free mobile lines convert and prior investments lap. Peacock: expect continued annual profitability improvement though quarter-to-quarter variability will occur based on sports/content timing. No specific numeric revenue/earnings targets provided.
Risks flagged
Intense broadband competition (fiber expansion, fixed wireless, promotional intensity); potential future competition from satellite/Starlink; near-term margin pressure from investments in pricing, packaging and wireless growth; content rights cost cycles (NBA rights) and revenue timing; softness in consumer demand/travel costs affecting parks; quarter-to-quarter variability in Peacock profitability; macroeconomic uncertainty impacting consumer spending.
