Last earnings call, Aug 13, 2026 AI summary

What they said
Aveanna Healthcare Holdings Q2 2026 earnings call: Management (CEO Jeffrey Shaner and CFO Matthew Buckhalter) presented strong Q2 results: revenue $670.5M (+13.7% YoY) and adjusted EBITDA $95.4M (+8% YoY). All three operating divisions (private duty services - PDS, home health & hospice, and medical solutions) grew. Management highlighted improved labor market trends, increased preferred payer mix, and operational efficiencies. They discussed California Medi-Cal rate increase expected to be finalized by end-September and effective Jan 1, 2027, which will enable wage passthrough to attract caregivers and unlock hospital discharges and unmet homecare demand. Family First Homecare acquisition integration is progressing well; prior guidance already reflected its contribution. Management raised 2026 guidance (enhanced guidance) and updated long-term growth outlook (raising long-term organic growth rates for PDS and home health/hospice, and increased M&A contribution). They reiterated target of <3x leverage and 13-14% EBITDA margin (maybe up to 15%). Key strategic priorities: focus on preferred payer alignments, wage passthrough to hire caregivers, M&A (especially in home health), leveraging scale and technology for onboarding/training, and state-level advocacy. Risks discussed include labor market constraints, timing of state rate finalizations, potential macro/state budget constraints, and that rate increases take time to translate to volume. No explicit quantitative 2027 guidance provided on revenue/EBITDA.
Guidance
Enhanced 2026 guidance was announced (management said they raised revenue and EBITDA guidance for 2026), and long-term growth outlook was updated (PDS long-term organic growth raised to ~5-6% versus prior 3-5%; home health and hospice raised to 8-10% vs prior 5-7%; long-term revenue uplift of ~150 bps at corporate level from 4.6% to 6.1% mentioned). Management reiterated 13-14% EBITDA margin target and sub-3x leverage target. No specific 2027 numeric guidance provided; California rate expected effective Jan 1, 2027, with wage passthrough starting Oct-Nov 2026. For details: PDS preferred payer mix expected to be mid-to-high 60s in 2026 and mid-80s (3-5 years) long-term. Family First Homecare's contribution had been previously included.
Risks flagged
Risks noted: labor market / caregiver shortages and wage inflation (primary gating factor to growth); timing risk around state rate schedules (California Medi-Cal rate finalization timing); state budget constraints and OBBBA (federal/state policy) uncertainties; integration risks for acquisitions (EMR/back office transitions); potential temporary leverage increases from acquisitions though management expects deleveraging; payor negotiation/timing variability.
